Prague Sea World (Mořský svět)
The Prague Sea World opened in 2002 as a small scale sea aquarium. It became so popular with the public that it quickly grew into its current size. It is located at the Výstaviště (Exhibition Grounds) in Prague 7-Holešovice. Some of its highlights are:
Coral Cave
A 25-meter long cave containing 10 fish tanks built into a man-made rock wall.
Giant Tank
The Giant Tank is the largest seawater tank in the Czech Republic. It holds 100,000 liters of water and is home to the aquarium's three species of shark and other fish.
HMS Bounty Tank
A tank holding a replica of the HMS Bounty.
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Tank
A tank containing a lighthouse modelled after the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina.
Transparent Freshwater Pool
This freestanding see-through tank holds fish from South America and three species of water turtles.
The Space Lagoon
This is a unique relaxation project created together with Czech psychologist and artist Zdeněk Hajný.
His paintings combined with precious stones like crystals and amethysts create a therapeutic effect.
Sea World Mural
One of Europe's largest manually created murals can be seen inside the Prague Sea World. It measures 2.700 m2 and depics various scenes from underwater life.
Regular schedule for the public:
Tuesdays at 3 p.m. - shark feeding
Wednesdays at 3 p.m. - central tank feeding
Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. - big tank feeding
Every last Friday of the month at 7 p.m. - nighttime guided tour
Take tram 6, 12, 14, 17, 34 from Nádraží
Holešovice (Metro C)
to Výstaviště Holešovice.
