About My Czech Republic

My Czech Republic's sister site,
Local
Lingo, was launched in a small Austin, TX apartment
in March 1998. The two of us had just moved to the United
States from Prague. We were eager to
share with others what we knew about the Czech Republic
and
we were
happy
to keep a
connection to the country we left behind. In 1999, we
"brought" Local Lingo with us to California.
Some three years later, it became
clear that a major reorganization was needed. The
amount of content that had accummulated on Local Lingo
since its
launch had to be reorganized and made more easily accessible
to our visitors. We decided to start a
whole new site to which all but language-related content
would be moved, which would enable
Local Lingo to focus exclusively on the Czech
language.
My
Czech Republic branched out
from Local Lingo in January 2003 to bring you first-hand
information about various aspects of
Czech life, assist you with your Czech Republic
travel needs,
and continue to expand the existing community of our members
and contributors. Some
of the things you will find here are a large Prague
guide with a way to book guided tours and accommodation;
practical travel information and tips; amusing columns
on Czech life written by
Kamal
Sunavala; a Czech mini phrasebook with audio; a large section
on Czech holidays and traditions;
a
list
of Czech
name
days; a photo gallery,
and more.
We
appreciate your visit and hope that you will enjoy
your stay! And, by the way, the circle has closed and
we returned to Prague in 2004.
